Undergroud - Industrial production and storage

Underground Storage

Onshore process plants need storage facilities for oil and gas and Norway’s hard rock conditions are suitable for underground oil and gas storages. Multiconsult has been involved in concept development and design of caverns for the onshore Norwegian oil and gas plants for many years. Multiconsult’s services combine expertise from engineering geology with rock mechanics analyses, water hydraulics and civil construction. Water curtain ensures overpressure and no leakage into the surroundings. The use of 3D/4D modeling is an important tool to optimize and integrate the structures in the overall plant layout. The use of caverns for protected storages has been adopted worldwide.
